Water is the main use – fill the grooves, freeze, hand to the dog. The textured surface holds the water in place so it freezes flat across the mat instead of pooling. Plain water works for daily use.
A fully frozen mat takes most dogs 10–25 minutes to lick clean, since the ice has to thaw as they go. Helpful for crate time, vet visit prep, or just settling a dog before bed.
Yes on smooth surfaces – tile, sealed hardwood, the bottom of a metal bowl. On textured surfaces (rough wood, rug) it slides more easily. The mat still works on those surfaces, it's just less stationary. Most dog parents put it inside a bowl or on a smooth countertop.
Small (15×15 cm) suits small dogs. Medium (18×18 cm) suits medium and larger dogs and freezes more water per session, so it lasts longer. Both sizes work for the same dog at different times.
Rinse with warm water immediately after use. For deeper clean, hand wash with mild soap and air dry. Silicone naturally repels odors – don't be alarmed if there's a slight rubber smell out of the box (it dissipates after first wash).
